General Powers of Attorney are a simple way of instructing a person to handle matters say in your absence abroad or if you are temporarily unable to look after your affairs for any other reason. Powers are normally restricted but nevertheless these are very effective documents, particularly in relation to financial matters. There are disadvantages in some circumstances and they are unsuitable if one loses mental capacity.
